Compared with five hours 33 minutes at present by extending the present line from Marseille to Nice via Toulon; to serve Toulon and Nice on a separate line bypassing the centre of Marseille; or offering direct access to Toulon and Nice by rapid regional links from the existing high speed line. The studies will also consider possible extension of the project towards Italy, short-term improvements to regional and freight services in the area, and the possibility of serving Cadarache, the European home of the ITER reactor, which is designed to demonstrate the scientific feasibility of nuclear fusion. Visit debatpublic-lgvpaca docs pdf Compte rendu final France. SNCF, the French railways, have plans to build a new underground station for high speed rail in the heart of Paris, in Place de la Rpublique. The project is mentioned in a document handed on by SNCF to the Ile-de-France region, as part of the revision of the infrastructure and transport guidelines. The Gare du Nord, Gare de Lyon and Gare Montparnasse main stations are close to saturation and it is necessary to anticipate the traffic generated by the future high speed lines Rhine-Rhone connection, etc. ; . In addition, all Parisian stations are cul-de-sac, hardly compatible with through traffic. The idea to put and end to the deadlock effect of the stations is to build a 5 km underground link and the Gare de la Rpublique station between the Gare du Nord and Gare de Lyon stations. The project would intersect with four of the five RER regional express rail ; lines and seven of the fourteen metro lines. The technical challenge would be to dig under the existing metro lines. The SNCF estimates the cost of the tunnel to 1 billion the cost per kilometre of tunnel in Paris is 120 to 200 million ; and the cost of the Gare de la Rpublique underground station to 500 million. Indonesia. Japan's Nippon Koei and Sojitz Corporation are studying a plan to build a 70 km tunnel for electric trains in the western coast of Sumatra. The underground track between Musi Rawas in south Sumatra province and the province of Bengkulu in the western coast of Sumatra is estimated to cost IDR4 trillion US0 million ; . The consortium would hold a survey of soil structure in that area this month. A long tunnel is under study to link the A6 and A9 highways in southeast Amsterdam see dotted alignment on map ; , to connect directly Almere, Amsterdam and Schiphol. The A6-A9 tunnel is one of two alternatives that the minister for transport, public works and water management will have to choose from next summer. The other solution is the widening of existing roads northwest of the A1 A6 junction, the Gaasperdammerweg running right through southeast Amsterdam and a section of the A2. The studies, like the environmental impact assessment, have just been completed. The A6-A9 option is slighty preferable. Since the region is a green lung a tunnel seems to be the only acceptable solution. This tunnel has been studied by Tunnel Engineering Consultants in 2005, with several variants. Visit tec-tunnel The basic principle is for a twin bored three-lane tunnel between the A1 A6 junction and the A9, with a length of 7.4 km, crossing the Vecht and Gein rivers, Amsterdam's Rijn canal and two railways. Outer diameter would be 15 m. The design is being detailed to get a realistic cost estimate with a deviation not exceeding 20%. The costs are estimated at 2 billion. The overall project would cost 4.5 billion for the road construction between Almere and Amstelveen. A first market consultation is and taxol. The climate, the isolation and simple island ways of life have allowed a remarkably rich natural mix of wildlife to develop. Scilly looks and feels like nowhere else and has enchanted visitors for centuries. The marvellous natural balance we witness today has taken thousands of years to evolve and is both complex and fragile. The value of Scilly is recognised through a host of official designations almost half the land areas are Sites of Special Scientific Interest, the Islands have been recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the coastline as a Heritage Coast. Despite these titles which unfortunately carry little monetary value ; the wildlife of the Islands is under threat from pollution, overuse and neglect. It is not enough to set wild places aside Scilly's wildlife must be actively conserved and the landscapes managed if these pockets of paradise are to be protected from irreparable damage and preserved for future generations of residents and visitors. The Islands are changing the wildlife and wild places of Scilly are under severe pressure and action needs to be taken now. We have a fantastic opportunity to act on this. The Duchy of Cornwall has leased all the unfarmed land to the Isles of Scilly Wildlife Trust. This includes all the uninhabited islands and most of the coastline about 60% of the land in total including the inter-tidal areas ; . Our job is to manage all this land, to preserve and. In those regions in which E.ON Energie has already built up a portfolio of activities, national holding companies such as E.ON Scandinavia, E.ON Bohemia, E.ON Hungaria and E.ON Benelux coordinate E.ON Energie's activities. Scandinavia. E.ON Energie is the largest shareholder in Sydkraft, the second-largest Swedish utility on the basis of electricity sales and production capacity ; , with a 55.0 percent equity and voting interest. Sydkraft is active in the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity. In 2001, it had a total installed generation capacity of 6, 555 MW, and generated 30, 595 million kWh of electricity. Sydkraft generates about 43 percent of its electric power at hydroelectric plants and about 55 percent at nuclear power plants. The remaining two percent is generated using gas turbines, hard coal and oil. For detailed information on Sydkraft's power plants, see the table below. In Sweden, nuclear waste is transported to final storage under the responsibility of Svensk K rnbr nslea a hantering AB, a company owned by the domestic producers of nuclear power and controlled by various state institutions. In 1980, the Swedish government decided to phase out nuclear power production. A law concerning the phase out of nuclear power has been passed pursuant to which the government can decide to revoke a license to conduct nuclear operations, but must compensate the owner of the nuclear plants that are phased out. Sydkraft has one nuclear reactor, Barseb ck 1, which has been closed under this law and for which Sydkraft received a compensation. The Swedish government has also decided that the other reactor at Barseb ck, Barseb ck 2, in a which Sydkraft has a 24.8 percent stake, should be phased out, but the initial closure date in 2002 was cancelled by the Swedish parliament due to certain conditions that could not be fulfilled, principally that the power production of Barseb ck 2 be replaced by other means of production that do not increase emissions. Current a discussions indicate the end of 2003 as a possible date for the Barseb ck 2 closure. Apart from these two reactors, a Sydkraft has no other nuclear power plants that have been targeted for early phase out by the Swedish government. Management believes that public opinion in Sweden has become more favorable towards nuclear power in the interim, and that it is unclear if and to what extent Sydkraft will need to shut down other nuclear power plants. Sydkraft also supplies heat and gas and conducts trading activities. In 2001, Sydkraft had sales of 42.1 billion. Electricity contributed approximately 76 percent, heat 14 percent and gas 10 percent of 2001 sales. Sydkraft's total trading volume was 158 billion kWh in 2001. Sydkraft also has a 22.9 percent interest in the Swedish utility Graninge AB ``Graninge'' ; , giving E.ON Energie an indirect 36.2 percent interest in Graninge. In 2001, E.ON Energie entered the Finnish energy market by acquiring a 34.0 percent interest in the Finnish energy supplier Espoon S hk from the city of Espoo. E.ON Energie has also made a mandatory tender offer to a o acquire the 32.0 percent of shares that are widely held. The city of Espoo holds the remaining 34.0 percent interest in Espoon S hk and has an option until the end of 2004 to sell this stake to E.ON Energie. a o E.ON Energie's position in the Scandinavian market is supplemented by its shareholdings in Norway, which include a 26.5 stake in the utility Hafslund ASA, a 49.0 percent stake in the utility Fredrikstad Energiverk AS and a 35.0 percent stake in the grid operator Fredrikstad EnergiNett AS. In addition, it holds a 49.0 percent stake both in the grid operator stfold Energinett AS and in the sales company stfold Kraftsalg AS. Baltic Region and Russia. E.ON Energie owns an equity interest of 9.3 percent in AO Lenenergo, the utility which provides St. Petersburg, Russia with electricity and heating, and a 18.0 percent equity interest in Latvijas Gaze, the only gas supplier in Latvia. E.ON Energie also owns a 10.6 percent equity interest in the Lithuanian utility Lietuvos Energija. Eastern Europe. The concept was further elucidated in Dosi et al. 1988 ; , Lundvall 1988, 1992 ; , Freeman 1988, 1995 ; , Nelson 1988, 1993 ; , and Edquist 1997 ; , with empirical applica tions focusing primarily on national industrial policy in Europe, Japan, and several East Asian countries that experienced rapid industrialization during the 1980s. Recent work on innovation systems has added new analytical dimensions, including the study of systems at different spatial i.e., geographi cally determined ; levels Saxenian, 1994; Braczyk, Cooke, and Heidenreich, 1998; Fritsch, 2004 ; , differ ent sectoral levels Breschi and Malerba, 1997; Malerba, 2002 ; , different time periods Anderson and Teubal, 1999; Andersen, 2000, 2004 ; , and in rela tion to a given technology set Carlsson and Jacobsson, 1993; Carlsson, 1995, 1997 ; . Application of the innovation systems approach has since been ex plored by the Organization for Economic Coopera tion and Development OECD, 1997 ; and its mem bers Arnold and Bell, 2001 ; , the United Nations Commission on Trade and Development, the Euro pean Commission, and, more recently, the World Bank and International Monetary Fund Lundvall et al., 2002 ; . Studies that use an innovation systems framework are able to analyze processes that are typically over looked in the linear approach to research and devel opment R&D ; . Innovation systems studies often open the "black box" of innovation to analyze actors' motives and behaviors; the institutions that shape these motives and behaviors; interactive, joint, and complementary processes of innovation; and the dy namics of institutional learning and change. They also provide analyses that extend beyond single in dustries or markets, capturing a wider range of agents public and private ; , interactions competition, cooperation, and learning ; , institutions social prac tices and norms ; , and policies science, technology, trade, education, and investment ; that condition agents' interactions and responses to innovation op portunities. Further, they often provide analyses of policy design from the perspective of policy as a con tinuous process that adapts to institutional and tech nological opportunities presented by socioeconomic and tenex.

NDA 21-840 Page 15 7. Gallbladder Disease Earlier studies have reported an increased lifetime relative risk of gallbladder surgery in users of oral contraceptives and estrogens. More recent studies, however, have shown that the relative risk of developing gallbladder disease among oral contraceptive users may be minimal. The recent findings of minimal risk may be related to the use of oral contraceptive formulations containing lower hormonal doses of estrogens and progestogens. 8. Carbohydrate and Lipid Metabolic Effects Oral contraceptives have been shown to cause glucose intolerance in a significant percentage of users. Oral contraceptives containing greater than 75 micrograms of estrogens cause hyperinsulinism, while lower doses of estrogen cause less glucose intolerance. Progestogens increase insulin secretion and create insulin resistance, this effect varying with different progestational agents. However, in the nondiabetic woman, oral contraceptives appear to have no effect on fasting blood glucose. Because of these demonstrated effects, prediabetic and diabetic women should be carefully observed while taking oral contraceptives. A small proportion of women will have persistent hypertriglyceridemia while on the pill. As discussed earlier see WARNINGS 1a. and 1d. ; , changes in serum triglycerides and lipoprotein levels have been reported in oral contraceptive users. 9. Elevated Blood Pressure Women with significant hypertension should not be started on hormonal contraceptive. An increase in blood pressure has been reported in women taking oral contraceptives and this increase is more likely in older oral contraceptive users and with continued use. Data from the Royal College of General Practitioners and subsequent randomized trials have shown that the incidence of hypertension increases with increasing concentrations of progestogens. Women with a history of hypertension or hypertension-related diseases, or renal disease should be encouraged to use another method of contraception. If women with hypertension elect to use oral contraceptives, they should be monitored closely, and if significant elevation of blood pressure occurs, oral contraceptives should be discontinued see CONTRAINDICATIONS ; . For most women, elevated blood pressure will return to normal after stopping oral contraceptives, and there is no difference in the occurrence of hypertension among ever- and never-users. 10. Headache The onset or exacerbation of migraine or development of headache with a new pattern that is recurrent, persistent, or severe requires discontinuation of oral contraceptives and evaluation of the cause. See WARNINGS, 1c. ; 11. Bleeding Irregularities and tequin.
